PROF. RANADHIR CHAKRABORTY WON DISTINGUISHED RESEARCHER AWARD IN THE FIELD OF BIOTECHNOLOGY


Prof. (Dr.) Ranadhir Chakraborty is a renowned molecular microbiologist with over four decades of academic and research experience. He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Bose Institute, Kolkata, under the University of Calcutta. His expertise lies in Molecular Microbiology, Microbial Genomics, and Biomolecular Technology, and he has made pioneering contributions to microbial genetics, antibiotic resistance, and biofilm research.

He has held several key positions at the Department of Biotechnology, University of North Bengal (UNB), India, including Professor & Head, Academic Coordinator, and Course Coordinator (2004–2016; 2022–2024). He is presently serving as Senior Professor, Department of Biotechnology, UNB (2016–till date).

Prof. Chakraborty has an impressive academic output:

  • 2 edited volumes (including a Springer book on antifungal agents)
