PROF. RAGHAVENDRA HL WON EXCELLENT RESEARCHER AWARD IN THE FIELD OF BIOTECHNOLOGY

Prof. Raghavendra Hl is currently serving as Director cum Professor at the College of Biosciences and Technology (formerly Center for Biotechnology), Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed to be University), Loni, Maharashtra, India since February 21, 2022. He is also the SWAYAM Nodal Officer for the Institute since November 25, 2024.

Prof. Raghavendra earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Kuvempu University, Karnataka, India, with a thesis on the “Evaluation of Antidiabetic Activity of Certain Plant Active Principles on Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetes Mellitus – A Combinatorial Approach.” He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Botucatu Medical School, São Paulo State University, Brazil, focusing on biochemical and immunohistochemical markers in pregnant women with hyperglycemia.

He has also served as Associate Professor at Wollega University, Ethiopia, and held several leadership roles including Director of Research Publication and Dissemination, Senate member, and committee chair for research and innovation.

Earlier in his career, Prof. Raghavendra gained industry experience as a Chemist-cum-Inspector at Caleb Brett India Pvt. Ltd. and as an Analytical Chemist at Micro Labs Ltd.

Research Contributions

  • Authored 161 research papers and 5 under review in internationally reputed journals.

  • Published 11 book chapters, 5 conference proceedings, and 4 MCQs for All India Postgraduate Medical Entrance Examination.

  • Supervised and examined undergraduate and postgraduate students since 2015.

  • Editor in Chief of Science, Technology and Arts Research (STAR) Journal (2012–2018), and currently serves as Associate Editor or Editorial Board member for multiple international journals.

  • Awarded multiple outstanding research recognitions, travel grants, and research project funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ethiopia, Wollega University, and the National Innovation Foundation, India.

Academic & Scientific Leadership

  • Served as Postdoctoral Fellow on the project entitled “Biochemical, protein and immunohistochemistry markers of muscle fiber and extracellular matrix of the rectus abdominal muscle of pregnant women with hyperglycemia” at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil  from 01-09-2018 to 30-08-2022

  • Served as NACC Coordinator of V criteria and member of multiple institutional committees at Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences

  • Organized 6 symposiums and 8 conferences at Wollega University

  • Actively contributed to curriculum development, quality assurance, and research development committees

  • Internationally recognized for fostering research collaborations and leading scientific initiatives
